Back at Magic Kingdom

Our family has lots of wonderful memories at Disney. It was the first time I remember flying as a kid when my parents took us there for our first big trip!! We had so much fun!! As an adult, I went to Disneyland back in 2004 when my husband returned from his first deployment and the memories will last a life time. We went to Disney World in 2012 as one of our first “real” family vacations, and again made countless memories. But I think the trip in 2017 is what sealed the deal that Disney would always be a happy place of ours. We went after my husband returned from his second deployment, and it helped heal a lot of wounds that had been festering for the previous 2 years prior.

Long story short, one of the many reasons we decided to move to Florida was to be closer to Disney. It’s not just for kids, I tell you! The parks have things for all ages, and the festivals at Epcot are something we truly enjoy.

We had annual passes for the first two years we lived here and frequented the parks quite often. Then COVID hit and we decided to let our passes go. Sooooo, last month we finally renewed them and today was our first visit back.

Here’s some pics from our day.

Have you ever been to Disney?

running

Tuesday’s short run!!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!! I hope you’re all having a fantastic day!! My daughter arrives tonight, so I decided to get a workout in before we pick her up.
It’s been so darn hot here in FL, so when the temps dropped to 82/real feel of 89-I knew I needed to get outside. See, for me running just isn’t about fitness, it’s my therapy of sorts and has been most of my life. I only had 35-40 minutes so I ran one mile, and walked/ran the second mile. Yay for my first time running outside in ages. It felt great despite the temps.
How was your day?! I’d love to hear about it.

Cheers!

TGIF

Hey everyone! It was a pretty crappy week last week. Work/personal stress + still suffering from this cold sort of did me in.

But thankfully we had today off from work, and my hubby took me on a lunch date. We went to a place called On Swann in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Tampa Fl. It was such a lovely place and we enjoyed some drinks and delicious and light food. It was just lovely. We finished the day with some window shopping and I even landed a few items for 30% off.

How was your Friday? Any fun plans this weekend?

Cheers!

Keto adventures, moving forward, running

Milestone Monday!

Well wasn’t this a pleasant surprise. My blog 6-7 years old, and is just my tiny little space to share some of my passions so it’s always fun to see it hanging in there between moments of lapse. Life, moving, deployments, and everything else in between have kept me pretty busy. But I’ll always have this little space in the universe.

Today I wanted to get a few miles in after work. I walked the first mile, and once the cloud and thunder rolled in, I ran the last mile and cut it short for safety reasons. The lightning here is no joke!

We’re starting week 6 of Keto and we’re hanging in strong. I didn’t weigh myself this morning but am still at around a 4-5 lbs weight loss.

How was your day? Ever have your run cut short due to weather?

Cheers!

Keto adventures, moving forward

Weekend of relaxing!

We had a nice and quiet weekend finally. Lots of pool time and fun with neighbors.

I even tried my first Keto pizza. I think it was way too much cheese for me. But it was tasty. It was actually better cold lol! These buffalo wings, though. Amazing.

I was in a funk all last week so praying for a better week, this week.

How was your weekend? Ever try Keto pizza?

Cheers!

2018 goals

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. We’ve been so busy getting acclimated to our new home and I’ve got so much to learn at my new job. I no longer have a computer, either, so posting from my iPad mini can be a challenge.

That being said, I really want to commit to some solid goals this year. Here’s my list, in no particular order:

1. Start writing again…maybe even start the book I’ve been talking about for years. 3 days a week I want to commit to at least 30 minutes of writing, but hopefully more often than that. I also want to post 2x per week on the blog.

2. Run at least 3 races, but more would be great. No time goals, just more running. Lift weights 3x per week.

3. Lose 10 lbs and keep it off. Menopause has reared her ugly head, and my body isn’t responding well at all. Once we get settled I plan on seeking healthcare, but for now its eat less and move more…

4. Get back in the kitchen. Once each week work to create and/or learn a new recipe or technique.

5. Continue to explore Florida and all the beautiful things it has to offer. So far we’ve visited Disney and Epcot several times, attended the food and wine festival, been to Siesta Key beach, St. Pete beach, Clearwater, Tarpon Springs and Anna Maria Island. Anna Maria is by far our favorite but for a quick trip to a more local beach we’ve been going to Pass-a-Grille beach in St. Petersburg. Here’s a few pics from the past year!!

Highlights from 2017 are:

1. Hubby returning from deployment

2. Disney world family vacation

3. Getting a job at the VA in FLORIDA

4. Moving to Florida (obv!!!)

5. Exploring Florida with my family…

6. Being able to go to Florida in December-sure don’t miss the snow!!

How was your 2017? Have you set goals for 2018?

I hope you all had a great year, and are enjoying the holiday season!!

Cheers!!

Crazy it’s been a week and a half since I arrived in Florida.

It's been a crazy week and a half. Getting acclimated. Fining a house. Starting a new job. It's been hard and exciting and crazy all in one. But I can honestly say having a friend here has made such a difference. Today Kandice took me site seeing to Ybor city, MacDill AFB and we even explored the new area I'll be living. We of course had to visit my new house, too. Look at the gorgeous hibiscus. We ended the day eating dinner near where I'm staying at the Rooster and the Till and it was amazing. With the crazy storms coming it looks like we won't hit the beach this weekend but we made the most of this crazy weather.
My take away from the week is my new job will be challenging but amazing and that I love living in Florida. Lastly I'm in awe of life long friendships. Feeling so blessed.
Here are some pics from the week.

How was your day? Have your explored any new areas where you live lately?
Cheers!!
