Three Things, Thursday

Three things, Thursday…

Sometimes we try really hard in life but just can’t seem to get one foot ahead of it all.  It all being issues that relate to our careers, our hobbies, fitness, relationships…well, all things LIFE related.  Right?  I used to be a pretty go with the flow type of person, but I have noticed that the last couple of years I have so much LESS patience when it comes to all things fake/lying/negative/mis-treatment of me or my friends/family.  What the heck am I talking about?  Bear with me here…I’ve been up since 2 a.m.  I will keep this sort of vague to protect feelings, but last night and today I found myself very HURT.  It seems, that you are truly often damned if you do/damned if you don’t.  Last night I ‘did’ and it slapped in the face like a hot dagger.  And it made me very sad.  So what did I do?  I called my Mom…because although we only talk once every few weeks or so, talking to your Mom makes everything better, even at the age of 41.

Sometimes I feel this way...
Sometimes I feel this way…

Tonight after work, instead of going home and cooking a nice dinner I have to go to…THE DENTIST.  I loath the dentist, in fact, believe I woke up at 2 a.m. due to anxiety of said appointment.  My stomach hurts, I have a headache, and yeah…I get to have my teeth drilled on for almost 2 hours tonight.  Looks like I will be missing my Thursday run, and having that extra glass of wine tonight.  (We got back together, don’t judge-lol).

Thankfully my dentist looks NOTHING like this...

Despite my icky night and lack of sleep I still came to work with a smile.  I work with a pretty crazy group, and they make smiling so much easier every day.  We also ordered stuffed pretzles for lunch from a local place called “Gnarly Knots” along with soup and they were DELISH.  I chose a plain salted pretzle with French onion soup.  What’s not to smile about?

Questions-
Do you ever feel like you’re hitting you head against the wall in regards to certain aspects of your life?
What medical appointment, if any, do you despise?
What makes you smile?

  1. it’s very coincidential that you mentioned the dentist. Yesterday, I had an emergency visit with oral surgeon to pull a tooth that has been sitting in my gums for overe 50 years. It decided to bother me for the last few months and it got really bad within the past week. I still ran yesterday too. I am with you on the dentist thing, That pain is gone, but I am not feeling good today very funky. I just made a nice dinner for my family and there is no way I can touch it. I am heading to bed to hopefully sleep off this funkiness. Tomorrow is another day and it can only get better, because tomorrow is a run day!

  2. I despise all medical appointments, so of course, I have a lot of them. Let’s see… the one where they speed up your heart and shoot dye into your veins is pretty bad. The one where you have to drink a gallon of salty sludge so they can ram a whatsits up your whosiewhat is fun. And then there’s the one where they stick you in a tube and make loud noises that makes your ears feel as if you’ve been at an iron foundry. Once upon a time I couldn’t even spell claustrophobia…

  3. I eat as healthy as I can so I can avoid going to a doctor’s office- only go once a year for physicals. And, I do NOT like the dentist but go twice a year for cleanings😜 My family, running, and helping others through my health coaching blog make me smile!🐝

  4. I *love* french onion soup and that pretzel looks delicious!

I hate the dentist. It gives me crazy anxiety, even if it’s for something simple like a teeth cleaning.

  5. One of my favorite directors used to say, “If you’re banging your head against a wall, stop banging and start looking for a door, a ladder, or a shovel.”

Since a routine checkup discovered cancer, and saved my life, I kind of look forward to any visit with a medical pro now.

What makes me smile? Movin It With Michelle, of course!

  6. Hey Michelle. Hope everything is going better since I am a few days late commenting. I used to feel like I was banging my head against the wall daily, not sure if it was the yoga or what but finally I just let go. Some people in my life I still love, but had to get over their roller coaster lives and focus on mine. P.S. pretzel and onion soup sounds ah-mazing!!!
