A good day to run!!! Belated weekend wrap up!

I decided to be smart and take a week off after running the Gasparilla half marathon the last weekend of February (click the link to read my recap), which turned out to be a week AND a half off since I was still recovering from this past weekend. Keep reading and you’ll understand why…

Saturday night my hubby and I escaped away to Orlando for the evening to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary (which was back in November but he was traveling for work and we never got around to celebrating). Since we had Hilton Honor points and our daughter was spending the night at a friend’s house, we thought, why not? We had a blasssst. We ate a place called The Flying Fish (the food and service was truly amazing. Freshly caught fish being cooked in an open kitchen made it quite the experience), and then hit up Disney Springs for some drinks and dancing. It felt so good to be US for 24 hours without any of the stressors in life (we won’t talk about the $1800 estimate I got on repairs for my 8 year old Jeep Saturday morning…we decided to NOT talk about it all weekend, and we’ll worry about that Friday morning when I drop it off, LOL).

We got home from Orlando in enough time for me to unpack and change clothes to go see the P!NK concert with my good friend Kandice. We got the tickets last fall and have been counting down the days until the concert. I have loved P!NK since the 90’s so this was definitely a bucket list item checked off!!!

SOOO I was going to run yesterday after work but MAN was it cold and dreary here in sunny Florida so I decided to put it off until today. I am so glad I did, because despite the strong winds, the temps were in the low 60’s and the sun was SHINING bright. I was able to maintain an average of a 10:16 pace and even hit in the 9’s during the 3rd mile. What’s even better, I was able to run all three miles PAIN FREE thanks to Novo Renew (affiliate link) which has drastically helped my knees and joints. If you’d like to try a bottle at no risk (30 money back guarantee) use Michelle25 at check out to save 25% off!! I’d love to hear your feedback as well, should you decide to give this amazing product a try!! (click the link to learn more)!

How was your weekend? What’s the best concert that you have attended? Have you ever taken a chance and tried a new product? (click that link above, you won’t be sorry!)

Cheers!

moving forward, race recaps, Races

Disney wine and dine half marathon.

While I can’t give a huge recap of the race from my phone, I do want to share about the race since it’s been almost a month and I’ve not written about it. It was an amazing weekend from expo to finish and my only complaint is that they didn’t have a plan B for the after party that got rained out. Regardless my husband and I had a blast and finished despite not properly training for the race. Here’s the weekend in pictures!!

We did it!! While it was my slowest half marathon to date (2:48ish) it was one of the most fun races I’ve run. And even better I got to do it with my hubby.

Cheers!!!

race recaps, Races

First “race” in two years.

Two years ago my husband was deployed to Iraq. Needless to say my running/racing days came to a screeching halt. I did run a 10k in the fall of 2016, but that was my last organized run/race.

So when my girlfriend Kandice asked me to run the “Whiskey Joe’s 5k” with her, I jumped at the chance. We agreed we’d only be running for fun, and she has a goal to run the entire thing. I had no time goal in mind so I told her I’d love to run the whole thing together.

We arrived to the race early, and watching the sky change colors as the sun began to rise was amazing. I may hate mornings but I do love a good sunrise. The race was seamless and we finished in around 40 minutes and she ran the whole thing! I was so proud of her. We sat on the beach and enjoyed our complementary beer, and then had a yummy brunch together. (we’re still doing Keto-so I skipped the English muffin, lol)

Here are a few pics from our day!

How was your weekend? Do you have any races coming up?

Cheers!

Sycamore pumpkin 10k recap and weekly wrap up! 10/24-10/30

I am happy to report that last week I ran THREE times, did yoga once (hey, that’s a lot for this non-yogi) and did weights twice. Here’s a couple of my workouts:

We watched the Cubs take the pennant and have watched all the games since…and yes, I am very tired from staying up even later than I normally do, LOL!

My mini was sick with a low grade fever so we hunkered down and rested this weekend so she’d be better for Trick or Treating tonight. #priorities We did manage to carve pumpkins, which is SOOOOO not my thing (I am not a fan of Halloween in general, I know, bah humbug) but I put on my happy face for my youngest.  My oldest had no desire to carve pumpkins with us this year…her friends are more fun, ya know? The best part is that my hubby Facetimed us while we were carving pumpkins and having not been able to talk to him since the end of September, this MADE OUR NIGHT!!!!

I also ran my very first 10k (yes, I know I’ve ran 3 full marathons and I’ve lost count of half marathons) on Sunday and it felt great to be racing again (even though my pace wasn’t really fast, it was fast for me not running for several months and just starting back a couple weeks ago). The race was the Sycamore 10k pumpkin run and many people were dressed up in costume.  They had same day packet pick up, and a nice area for us to hang out inside while we waiting for the race to start.  The race went pretty well, despite some CRAZY winds the last 4 miles.  The first 2 miles were glorious as we ran through wooded neighborhoods.  The Fall colors were brilliant!  I was afraid if I stopped to take a picture I wouldn’t be able to stop again though, so I have only my memories to share with you, LOL.  But as we hit mile three and turned left to make the first turn of the loop, the wind literally smacked me in the face and I got a little nervous.  Would I be able to finish this race with this wind?  Ack…I kept positive though, thinking as soon as we turned the wind would ease up…I was wrong, it just blew you sideways, LOL…So I stopped to walk the 4 mile water stop, and walked for a good minute to catch my breath. I really wanted to finish the race strong.  So I slowed my pace, and just settled in. I saw my friend Mark at the 5ish mile marker, and he ran me in the last mile or so giving me encouragement and cheering me on.  It was just what I needed!  I finished in just over an hour (1:03) and for not having trained really (2 weeks of running) I was quite pleased.

Overall it was a pretty good week which will hopefully carry over in to my 6 day work week this week.

How was your week? Any races to report?  Do you like carving pumpkins/Halloween festivities?

Linking up with Holly at https://hohoruns.blogspot.com and Tricia at http://www.misssippipiddlin.com for the weekly wrap!
