Tonight’s reminder and plank!
I wasn’t feeling well this morning, between a headache and sinus/allergies, so I decided to take a sick day. It’s something I used to never do due to feeling guilty for missing g work. Now I realize taking care of myself so I can be there for my family should always take priority over work. Who’s with me?

Every now and then I get pretty bad foot cramps. There is no rhyme or reason to them, and it’s definitely not because I’m dehydrated, so yeah.
I also do my best to keep my emotions in check. I’ve learned through enduring a lot of emotional and physical situations to, “suck it up.”
That wasn’t the case tonight. As I was falling asleep to take a cat nap on my recliner, my right foot seized up. This was gonna be a doozy.
Suddenly I was crying. You know, the ugly sob sort of cry. The more I cried, the more my foot seemed to hurt, geez Louise could I catch a break?
It finally let up, but by then I was emotionally drained, even though they say a good cry is good for you, I’m not so sure. Lol. Maybe I needed it, maybe the foot cramps come from something a little deeper, who knows.
Not really a point to this story, just felt I needed to get it off my chest.
Ever have phantom off wall aches and pains? Joys of aging I suppose!!

Here are a few race pics that make my heart happy. I took another rest day, but made it into work at least. I did manage a few miles of walking at work, and did a quick yoga stretching workout after work.

This was our first race in three years , and the first half for my daughter.
We arrived to the expo Saturday and had a complete blast checking out the booths. Thankfully we were able to stay downtown, so we had a 0430 wake-up to get ready for the race. We walked down to the start and got in the corral. The excitement was truly tangible.

The first four miles were almost easy. Cool weather and low humidity helped the miles fly by. I had to take a bathroom break around mile four but thankfully took only 30 seconds or so. We took our huma chia gels and kept running.

At mile five or so we saw my best friend Kandice who while was supposed to run the race, wasn’t able to due to injury. She still came down to support us. So amazing.
I was feeling great until around mile 9. My ITB seized up and I had to stop to stretch several times. It was Sophia who motivated me. Seeing her in so happy kept me going and her runners high was priceless. She was high fiving spectators was so cool. I only wish I had taken more pictures. But it took everything I had to keep moving. Stopping wasn’t an option.
Kandice caught this video of us just before the finish.
We finished strong with negative splits, with a finish time of 2:41. It wasn’t my best race, but the finish line feels and feeling the sobs of pride while we hugged at the finish line is something I’ll never forget. I may not be the runner I used to be, but man it felt good to race again and share this with my family is truly priceless.
Happy to report that we finished strong, despite a few hiccups near the end. Our final finish time was 2:41:05, with the first half finishing at a 12:23 pace and the second half at a 12:18 pace!! Not bad for our first real race in three years, and my daughter’s first half!! I’ll do my plank later, I promise lol.
Thanks for all the love and support!!!
