The girls asked what I wanted for my birthday this year. That was easy for me to answer since the only other obvious gift would be my husband’s return. I wanted one last girls day in the city!! We took the train down, ate lots of yummy food, and went to the Shedd aquarium. Here’s our day (this past Saturday) in pics!!
And at the end of the day, as we near the end of this deployment I can say this: we’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve fought, and we’ve grown. And we did it all. Together.
Thanks for all of the love and support this year. I am so very thankful. (Sorry for the repeat pics, but wanted to document the day). I couldn’t have asked for a better 44th bday minus my hubby being here with us.
What do you ask for on your birthday? Ever been to the Shedd aquarium in Chicago?
Cheers!
Michelle
Happy Birthday and looks like a fabulous trip!!!
Thanks, Myra!!!
Such a wonderful day! Happy birthday again, glad it was a memorable one.
Thanks so much!
What a beautiful day! I think you were down there the same day Wendy, Kim and I ran downtown. All I ever want for my birthday is a freaking piece of cake.
Yes, we were there that day! I wish I had know you girls were meeting up! I would’ve introduced my girls to you!!! ❤
Happy Birthday, dear Michelle! From what I saw it was a beautiful anniversary. And what it matters, as you said, it was all TOGETHER.
Mo-hugs and kisses for you all ❤
Thank you!!
❤
Usually I just ask to go out. For years I didn’t because my birthday falls on a holiday but then one year I said dammit! Why should everyone else get to go out on MY birthday?
Some years the weather is too nasty to go out. All I really ask is that I don’t have to cook!
Oh my, those sandwiches look really yummy, it’s almost dinner time . . .
Oh nice! What holiday does your birthday fall on? I’d still want to go out too! As much as I love to cook, I also love eating out!
The sandwiches were AMAZING, so huge that my youngest daughter and I had to split one!
Happy belated birthday! I haven’t been to the Shedd Aquarium, but I have walked past those umbrella holding guys!
Thanks!! It was on the 17th so we decided to really celebrate on the weekend.
Sounds like a lovely time, Michelle. Happy belated birthday!
This year, I have a friend visiting me for my birthday in March–which will be QUITE nice considering I was alone in Thailand last year recooperating from pneumonia on my birthday.
Thank you!! I hope your bday will be MUCH better this year!!
Happy Belated birthday Michelle! What a great way to spend you day and I’m so glad that you can finally see the light at the end of this deployment tunnel! As I’ve said before …my hubby was in Afghanistan for a year back in 2011 and it was the most difficult year of my life! We just got word that he will be going again later in the year…dreading this so much because now I know how difficult it is! So happy for you and your hubby for an upcoming homecoming!
I remember you telling me that!! Mine was in Afghanistan for a year in 2003 so I can empathize. This second one was much harder I’ll have to admit. I’ll keep you and your family in my prayers!!
How wonderful! Thanks for sharing! Happy belated birthday!!
Thank you!!
As rough as this year has been for you, and I would NEVER NEVER NEVER discount that, I am so glad that you have been able to share the time with your daughters, and they with you. Your relationships with them together and individually are such gifts. But I am so very excited for you to have you guy back 😀
Thanks Suz. The strength we’ve built together has been the silver lining this year for sure!
I love all the photos! Spending your day with your girls is perfect. Happy happy birthday
Thanks, Deborah! It really was the perfect day!!!
Happy Belated Birthday! Looks like you had a wonderful day! 🙂
Thanks, Linda!!! I really did!!! 🙂
That’s wonderful!! 🙂
WHAT A delicious looking day! All I ever ask for, for my birthday = FOOD… And ANIMALS – so we are one in the same, lol!
Thanks, GiGi!!
