Birthday weekend wrap up

For the last 42 years, ok not that long but for a LONG time, I have hated my birthday.  I wish I could honestly figure out where this hate comes from, although I have a few sneaking suspicions that I will keep to myself.  Yet as I have grown into a middle aged adult, I truly have worked at embracing my birthday as a day of celebration of life vs. a battle of time.

And this weekend, I was reminded how very blessed I truly am.  I was surrounded by friends and family, and made to feel more special than I can even describe in words…

So this post will have less words, and more pics, because I truly can’t find the words to describe the blessings I feel today, and always.  And of course…food pics.  Because isn’t this why we run so much?  LOL!!!

So after quite a bit of deliberation I found myself looking hard at my circle of friends once again today.  I am cutting back more on social media, removing negative forces from my world, and realizing not everyone has the best wishes for us in life.

But…some people DO want nothing more than the best for us…and those are the gifts that I hold true to my heart on days/weekends like this…

Here’s to a new week, more miles, amazing relationships and even better food!

Questions….Do you enjoy your birthday?  What’s your favorite birthday treat?

❤ Michelle

  1. wish you luck, happiness and riches today, tomorrow and beyond.

As you look back on yesterday, may your memories be warm ones. As you celebrate today, may your heart be filled with happiness and joy. As you look ahead to tomorrow, may your deepest hopes and dreams come true for you!

I wish that for every extra candle on your cake, you receive an extra reason to smile. Happy Birthday to you!

  2. Happy Birthday, Michelle! That creme brulee looks fantastic! I’m glad you enjoyed your day. My birthday has to include some yummy wine and seafood without a doubt.

  3. I’ve long been ambivalent about my birthday too. But I’ve found that if I expect nothing I enjoy the day so much more – it’s when I place too much importance on it that I feel let down. Over the last few years I’ve had some wonderful birthdays that have spread over a week or so. Catching up with people who you love and value is the best gift.

  4. Looks like a wonderful birthday! Yay!

I bet the social media cut back will really help! I have been staying off Facebook as much as possible (have to use it for my personal trainer job most days) and it feels so great!

  5. Happy Happy!! And early 40’s so rock!! And just think of it this way, you are something like 301 years old in dog years!! See, thats better. I am very fortunate to have a B-Day in July which means I have also enjoyed my day. And by far my favorite B-Day treat is angle food cake, cut in half, tear out the bottom to make a trough, fill w/chocolate pudding, place the top back on, & drizzle more pudding on top and down the sides. 6. Looks like it was a wonderful birthday! I have mixed feelings about birthdays. I hate that I’m getting older. Hate. I was just thinking about this yesterday, tho…my 40s were awesome, and I have to admit that so far, my 50s have been pretty darned good. That in spite of trying to raise a two teenage boys ( including one who is giving me a run for my money) and hanging on the precipice of menopause (no I haven’t crossed over to the dark side yet). I don’t know what’s ahead for me, but if I can keep my fitness, then I think the rest will be ok.
