    1. Oh wow!!! That’s just across the lake! I am nervous and excited to venture back after all these years. I left a lot of hard times back there and swore I’d never truly return. This will be my year to face the last of my demons!!!
Thanks, Wendy! I hope you get to do this race one day too…it’s amazing to spectate and I can’t wait to finally run it!

  1. I love it! And, wow–thank you for your service to our country, Michelle!

“Chef” is a great movie. I saw it twice last year at the movie theater, which I don’t think has happened since I was an adolescent. Love the food stuff, but it’s also a great father-son story and fairy tale. Fairy tales are always welcome. 🙂

Okay, now I’m off to look up “histologist.”

    1. It’s a work in progress for me! I’ve been removing negative people from my life the last few years, and now my goal is to declutter my house. I tackle one area (at least) each month…Lord help me when I start on the basement closet, LOL!

  3. Let’s see…
4 names that people call me: 1. My first name (nearly everyone) 2. Uncle (my nephews and niece and my little grandniece) 3. Son (my mother-in-law) 4. A lot of shameful, disparaging names (my father – regularly in childhood and occasionally until this day). I won’t repeat those names here, but if you look back in my blog to the summer of 2013, I wrote a post about it.
4 jobs that I’ve had: 1. Typesetter at a pharmaceutical company (drug labels and circulars and boxes) back in the old days 2. Relay operator for the deaf and hard of hearing 3. Research attorney 4. Manager in the state court system (and a while lot of others…)
4 movies I’ve watched more than once: 1. Mary Poppins 2. The Sound of Music 3. Napoleon Dynamite (I identify with the guy) 4. Home Alone (the original)
4 books I recommend: Well, Michelle, you and I have vastly different literary tastes, I must say. 1. A Widow for One Year (John Irving) – Even better than Cider House Rules, and that’s saying a lot. Irving is a virtuoso. More than you ever wanted to know about squid ink, the game of squash and prostitution in Amsterdam. 2. Last Night at the Lobster (Stewart O’Nan) – Captures the gritty life of a retail manager so realistically that it is hard to believe it’s a work of fiction. This thin book is among my all-time favorites. 3. A Hope in the Unseen (Ron Suskind) – This Pulitzer prize winning Wall Street Journal reporter shows us the hopelessness of growing up poor in Washington, D.C.’s drug-infested Anacostia section, and how one boy escaped. 4. Word Freak (Stefan Fatsis) – If you’ve never played in a Scrabble tournament, this book will open your eyes to a fascinating subculture (one that I myself have dipped in and out of over the years).
4 places I’ve lived: 1. The Bronx, New York City – Lived there for the first six years of my life and have many fond memories that I have committed to paper in my memoir in progress 2. Wilbraham, Massachusetts – During my law school years. I loved this place. 3. Westerly, Rhode Island – At the seashore. To visit this place is to fall in love. There are no words to describe the happiness I felt during my brief time there. 4. Blythe, California – Out in the burning desert, 120 degrees in the summer. Directly across the Colorado River bridge from Arizona. I’d probably still be there if I hadn’t been laid off from my job. (and many other places…)
4 places I’ve been: 1. Paris 2. London 2. St. Maarten in the Caribbean 3. Québec City
4 places I’d rather be now: 1. Vermont 2. New York City 3. Rhode Island 4. Connecticut shore
4 things I don’t eat: (I am fond of lima beans and water chestnuts – sorry, Michelle. Coconut I can take or leave.) 1. Meat 2. Seafood 3. Dairy products 4. Eggs (Can you tell I’m a vegan?)
4 of my favorite foods: 1. Vegetarian pho 2. Baked potatoes 3. Eggplant baked in tomato sauce 4. Fresh sourdough bread. And, of course, a hot cup of tea with almond milk!
4 TV shows I watch: None, if I can help it. I despise the boob tube. My wife says I’m a snob.
4 things I’m looking forward to this year: These are things I am hopeful for, but as you know, life is strange. 1. A new job 2. Finally completing my childhood memoir (I am almost there) 3. A trip to the ocean 4. Playing in a Scrabble tournament. It is entirely possible that none of these will happen.
    4 things I’m always saying: 1. Honestly 2. Truth be told 3. Y’know 4. In my opinion…

Gosh, this was a long post! 🙂
