dedication, moving forward

Monday Motivation

Since I worked all of last weekend, I was off today!  I’ve been beating myself up about not doing all the things so I decided to start the day out right. A run on my dreadmill and day 3 of my 21 day challenge.

After which, I decided to bake zucchini bread. Keep in mind, as much as I love to cook-I am a terrible baker. But I’m tending my neighbors garden while they are on vacation so thought, why not?

yummy fresh veggies!

I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching again lately. And came to the realization that I need to celebrate how far I’ve come vs. dwelling on what I’d have done differently.

With that, I’ll be spending more time doing the things I love, and with the people I love. Well this should be common sense, right?  Not always. While I preach not to let others treat you like an after thought, I don’t always walk that walk. Time to start steppin’, right?

What’s on your plate these days? Do you like zucchini bread?  What’s your favorite thing to bake?

Have a great week!

❤ Michelle

  1. Like bananas, I do not especially like zucchini….but shred it up and mix it with some flour & sugar (and bake) and I’m in heaven 🙂 As you know, I’m on a bit of a forced sabbatical….still running 3-4 times/week and cross-training, but it is SO tough seeing all the other peeps putting in the 26.2 training mileage. I don’t feel lazy, but definitely feel like I’m missing out on “something” (and somehow am overlooking the fact that I did run a marathon, an ultra, and a duathlon over the course of 6 weeks…duh!). That comparison game is nasty LOL.

    1. It surely is….but without rest, your body can’t heal. I was having a hard time this summer too, seeing all my running friends out there training while I juggle good ‘ole life. I miss it, but realize my energy is needed else ware right now. Big hugs to you my friend. You’ve done SOOO many things that you should feel so proud!

  2. Love zucchini bread. Don’t know how. That is a lot accomplished in one day. Baking, soul searching and affirmations. Not to mention running and all the exercise! That is pretty cool.

  3. Zucchini bread is my favorite! Lucky you with all those lovely fresh veggies! My husband and I visited his folks this weekend, and we got to raid their garden–it was great 😀

  4. Just wanted to say thanks for reading along as Voices of August #VOA5.0 rolls out this month. I appreciate those “likes” you drop now and then. If you wouldn’t mind sending me your email address sometime, that would be great.

  5. I just love baking full stop. Don’t have any particular favourite thing to bake but I go through fads. It was the cupcake one but I’ve drifted across to layered cakes. It’s all about making them pretty and having a lot of fun in the process.

  6. I love to bake…too much. So I haven’t been to spare myself from eating it. Envious of that zucchini. My garden is a mess. All I’e gotten so far is peas. Delicious, but still. Oh and weeds. Lots of those.

  7. I LOVE your list of things to give up ! I need to work harder on those, especially the negative self talk during Marathon training.

Oh yes I love zucchini bread! And Double Chocolate Zucchini bread.
My all time favorite thing to bake is my Pumpkin Chocolate Chip muffins . I use coconut sugar, local honey, or pure maple syrup in place of white sugar.

  8. That 21 day challenge sounds like a good and do-able one! I would probably swap out the sit-ups with crunches though because the full sit-up tends to aggravate my back (am I really getting old already?! lol). Yay for fresh veggies and zucchini bread! Looks yummy 🙂 I used to love baking but my problem was I ended up eating a lot of what I made. I stopped baking so I wouldn’t have that temptation all the time :/ But my specialty was definitely cookies – oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, you name it. Now that I’m gluten free it’s hard to figure out good substitutes however so I don’t enjoy baking as much anymore 😥
